Well I have been on the forum for a little while now and I finally have the time to start my Member Journal.

I came from the EVO community, but sold my modded EVO VIII when my wife and I found out we had a baby on the way. I wanted something with a better crash test rating and with an automatic transmission so my wife could drive it as well. I found my 06 XT on Craigslist from a past SF.com member "CaliSub" who had already started modding it by the time he sold it.

"Calisub" had lowered it on Swift springs, with an STI sway bar, upgraded endlinks, botox bolts, added an STI hood scoop, and vanity license plates. Here are some of the pictures as I bought it, plus a tint I had put on right away.

I have never been able to leave well enough alone and so I started modding.

First I removed the cross bars

Second, was a new JVC KD-ADV38 deck with Bluetooth phone and streaming, Ipod and DVD playback.

Then Came the baby.

After the baby mod everything seems cheap, but I kept on modding what is now called my daddy car.

Next up Wheels and tires:
17inch ENKEI EDR9 with Continental Extreme contact DWS 215/55/17

I really like the tires. They have made a quieter, smoother, more comfortable ride and increased the handling. I love the wheels!

Mods to date/Table of contents:
Swift springs
STI sway bar
upgraded endlinks
botox bolts
STI hood scoop
Tint
JVC KD-ADV38
17inch ENKEI EDR9 with Continental Extreme contact DWS 215/55/17
Replacement Cabin Air Filter
Centric Cryo Rotors
Hawk HPS Pads
Bumper Repaint
Terribly modified exhaust

Future Plans:
STI Turbo
STI Intercooler
STI Steering rack
Cobb access port
Magnaflow Muffler A la Bobby (2.5x_sleeper)
Aftermarket Downpipe and highflow cat

Next, thanks to Lickwid I replaced that badly caked cabin air filter. I hesitate to show you all what it looked like after 45k of driving, but here it is:

The stock brakes were pulsing pretty bad so I got a set of Centric Cryo Rotors in the front with some Hawk HPS Pads

Do yourself a favor, when you install the HPS pads take off Hawk the stuck-on shim on the outside pad and only use one of the stock pads. Otherwise you will drag the brakes to a point of extreme heat and warp your new rotors. I narrowly avoided warping mine.

Next on my list was the front bumper. I thought about going to a sports bumper, but could not justify the cash when my bumper is fine. Thanks to highrider and the Singapore group-shot I got my answer.

The pics are bad, and taken on an uphill uneven driveway, but you get the idea.

I got really tired of the pathetic sound of my stock exhaust. It sounds pitiful and apologetic. I wanted to cut it open and see what is inside. I did, and in the process I purposely severed the entry pipe from the rear of the muffler allowing gas to flow straight to the exit.

As suspected it made very little difference, the gas just jumps the gap that I made. I did not expect anything, but I had a day with no baby duty, a plasma cutter, welder one of my best friends and a few beers, so why not?

Nice start on your Member Journal! I especially like the baby MOD & carrier to match your Forester!

Don't forget to start a "Table of Contents" early on. It can be on any post, just link to it. It's a PIA to add it later on. :icon_eek:

Love the color of your XT & wish 04 heater/ac controls looked like the 05+ ones.

I just got my car back a few months ago after 6 months of letting my Mother drive it. It now needs a new rear bumper the front bumper repainted and two deeply curbed wheels fixed. On the plus side she had been taking my Daughter during the day and she was not driving her in the Mini any more.

No mods in way too long (Still wanting an STI steering rack, TMIC and a VFxx), but did hit a milestone this morning and wanted to celebrate it.

I am sad to report that my commute finally won over my love of driving. My Forester is now gone and replaced with. . . See below. I was very sorry to see her go but with the gas savings from my 70 mile commute, the new car (if you can call it that) is leaving more money in my pocket per month.

This is a sad time for me, I know you will all feel my pain.
