I'm the new owner of a Forester 2016 w/ the 6.2in HU (no nav).
A major disappointment -- which I failed to notice during the test drive -- is this HU's problem with the iPod Classic. I tried two different iPods and they have essentially the same problem. They work if connected after the car is up & running. Otherwise, the iPods hang or are caused to restart when the HU starts up. I also tried an iPhone 4S, and it did not exhibit this issue; and I read that it does not occur with the 7in HUs.
I read in this forum that some users solved the problem by deleting artwork from the iPod. Well, I did delete the </iPod_Control/Artwork> directory, but it didn't make any difference. I also read that the same problem occurs in the 2019 model as well, which means Subaru has no intention to fix it.
So I'm asking forum contributors. If you have experienced this issue, how did you deal with it?
Did deleting the artwork work for you? Or did you ditch the iPod Classic and switch to an iPod Touch? (Even current models don't have anything like the 160GB storage capacity of my iPod Classic.) Or perhaps you upgraded your HU? Something else?
Thanks.
