02 Forester 5 speed: Is it possible to loosen trans mounts and get the inner cv off the trans w/out loosening anything on the wheel end?
Thanks

you can but it would take at least 2 people and loosening the transmission mounts.. just put a trans in an 04wrx and we did it on a car lift with 3 people... PIA

Thanks. I just replaced abad transmission in my 02, and was able to leave the axles in place and simply reailgined them when sliding the new trans in, but the right side is one notch off! This car had just had a 4whl alignment done so I don not want to loosen anything on the wheel end!:frown:

IIRC if you just undo the balljoint pinch bolt & the swaybar drag-link and the arm will droop and allow you to pull the CV w/o affecting the alignment.

Easier to undo the wishbone at the subframe, then lever the wishbone out to give you room to pull the shaft..
