.....put petrol in Mrs G's X3 this morning. :icon_eek:

Still at least the refund I just got from Tracker who are owned by the same company as the breakdown firm will cover some of the cost!

Bloody oil burners!

Mind you I Shouldn't laugh as I've done it myself, but it was in a hire car paid for by my company so I didn't have to cover any costs..lol

I blame Mrs G... She was the one who said "my car needs some petrol" - the fact I was a bit knackered having had next to no sleep this week and was distracted by some nice bikes while I was at the petrol station has nothing whatsoever to do with it.

It's a 70 liter tank on the X3 too.... bloody expensive fuel stop that's for sure!

Gutted for you. I've not done that yet but I'm sure it'll happen one day. Probably like you i be looking at bikes and not paying attention. Mind you, I don't have any BMW products so maybe I'll escape the numb gene?

I almost did that once haha, but thankfully the pump was out of order anyway. I just moved my car and felt all embarrassed.

Now I always check.

I came close on a recent trip to Europe with a rental car. The label on the pump said something like 'green, organic, natural' so I figured it was probably diesel. But it was just some green, organic, natural mix of stuff on top of regular gas. Fortunately I caught it in time.

I also remember coming very close in the other direction, long ago, when I saw the label 'Gasol' in France.

Guess drivers are getting dumber nowadays :icon_redface:
I've been dumb for a while, I just hide it better normally :)

I did that once, only put about £15 of petrol in before I realised, topped it right up with diesel and it was fine.
I did 60 litres... engine didn't like it too much. Runs fine now though - actually probably a little better now the engine's had a tast of proper fuel.

The Austrians probably have the same gene... was actually a KTM I was looking at - very mean sounding 990 with twin Akro cans...... mmmmmm!

What's diesel?

Isn't that just for generators?

... and trains. :catfight:
or taxis and possibly tractors

Your not alone, Steve Cropley of Autocar did £3000 damage to a Jag X-type Diesel when he filled it with Petrol......never ever ever start it, with modern high pressure pumps it can be damaged in seconds of running once the petrol gets to the front of the car.
