My 99's 5 speed transmission is going and I need to replace it...

I am lost trying to find a place to get a remanufactured one at a reasonable price or a used one (I just lost one on ebay for a few bucks :yell:

I will appreciate if you can share any tips...

Rebuilt one
Send mine top a place to get it rebuilt or a re-manufacture kit are all choices that I am willing to consider...

I believe Subaru also offers their own Reman 4EAT.
This is a 5sp...

Where do you think I can get the Subaru remanufactured ones one?

I got a $1500 estimate from andrewtech which is almost what I paid for my Car...

Also,

Does any one know the product number of the transmission or the compatibility of the tranny?

I mean does it use the same as some outbacks, legacys or imprezas?

Thanks!

^^ my bad. Reading comprehension fail for a second there.

$1500 is not a bad price for a rebuild from what I have seen. You could look at a used one, which then you would have to find one with the same front diff gear ratio. But then you are left with the crap shoot of "is it going to be any better then the one you have".

There is a tag on the transmission with a string of numbers/letters that IDs the tranny so to speak. Others on here may be able to fill you in more on that, not some thing I have had to deal with.
