As above , any one know what the max boost is on them?
Just wondering if I should or would need to upgrade!

When I had problems holding boost we suspected the solenoid and I was going to fit a 3 port one. During the process we plumbed the solenoid completely out of the loop (don't try this at home kids) and it didn't make a scrap of difference which means that the solenoid was holding up fine. As a result I still run the stocker at 1.6 bar max.

The problem was the BPV was leaking (see earlier comments about whacking it with a hammer).

Having said that there are people on here who'll tell you that they put a 3-porter on and it made a huge difference. This tells us that some are OK and some are flakey. How you tell if yours is good or bad.... My car was on a dyno when we plumbed it out so could safely be 'boost controlled ' by the throttle alone. I suppose the answer is cadge a 3-porter from someone and try it.

BTW what leads you to ask this question?

Thinking logically, the BCS has no 'strength' issue, if it gets 'blown open' it bleeds more air from the actuator so so you get MORE boost!

The limitation is the amount it will flow (bleed), although you could get more boost if you hit its limit by fitting a smaller pill.

In Summary, no issue with stock BCS itself, you switch to a 3port to sort actuator* or boost control (rather than level) issues.

Simon

*If the actuator can't keep the wastegate shut against the turbine internal pressure, removing all boost pressure from the capsule helps!

1.3 should be enough Coops - most "celebrity" mappers won't map above 1.25 max anyways. If you want more power than that gives go for a bigger turbo. :chair:

ps. in vBulletin you should be able to double click on your title when in edit mode and change it...

The biggest problem with the stock BCS is it seems to wear out and not respond properly as it gets older. Most likely due to the internals getting gummed up (my stock one failed and would give me random boost levels and fluctuate instead of holding steady boost)

aaah sound, its just i was going to fit a 3 port but the remap that has to go with it was going to cost me 500euro and i really dont think its worth that just to add it !!!?
am i right (boost is grand and holds well so no issues, just like the idea of modding some think to make it better)

I definitely wouldn't do it if its the only thing you're putting on. If you're getting a remap anyway, I would put the BCS on at the same time. It won't really make much of a difference if your current BCS is working fine. It usually just lets the tuner control boost a little better.
