So here is a weird one.

08 Forester, was changing the oil on my sons car, I just put a wrench of the drain plug and the horn blows for 30 sec. scares the crap outta me.

Then it stops on its own, and about every 30 min it does a little beep. Swapped out the relay, no change, unplug one horn then the other and no change, checked the horn connectors for corrosion and all is good. Other than the clockspring not sure what else to look at.

Right now I have the horns disconnected.

At the same time, the cruise light decided to sart blinking.,

help

@70Roadkill I see this is your first forum post, so welcome to the forum from Oregon!

Questions:

[1] Any previous history on the horn cycling on its own?
[2] Was the security system armed when this happened?
[3] Have you scanned for CEL codes?

Bobby...

Horn has never cycled on its own, doesn't have an alarm that we are aware of (he doesn't have keyfobs), and were going to check for codes today.

I was thinking a clock spring issue, but I don't see that appears to be a common issue on these. It's a $215 part to take a guess.
