Have any Forester owners been audacious enough to install hood vents to improve heat dissipation? I wouldn't mind doing some, if I found the right ones - I just don't want to be the pioneer. :lol:

I was toying with doing a set for my track car... but it means creating something one-off since there aren't any good lightweight hoods out there with them already.

Know anyone with a 98-01 2.5 RS or Outback sport? There hoods have a similar crease and maybe one of those vents could be added.

Or you could go adjustable depending on weather.

On the rx7 club there were a couple of hood vent projects. One was louvers, another was cutting around the hood skeleton and then filling the hole with mesh from mcmaster carr.

If I were going to do it, I think i'd either go with the rs vents (I think, above), or the fender vents from a range rover sport

or pontiac grand prix gxp

or the saleen f150

I'd definitely have someone shoop them first though, because ugly vents can jack up the look of a car pretty quick.

If you do this PLEASE post pics as I've thought about this on and off for about 2 years but could never find a good looking vent. I always thought the 22B vents might work but didn't know they could be bought individually. Great find there.

I've thought about it in the 2 square blank areas in the hood skeleton, however I can't bring myself to cut into the aluminum hood!

if you could find some aluminum ones that sit flush you could weld them in, and the refinish the hood, it would look like the pic above, good luck on the aluminum find though!
