Had my car serviced, and noticed ater driving about 300km that I had smoke rising from the exhaust pipe just below the turbo, from the CAT i think.

I thought he had spilt oil all over the pipework, so I jet washed it, but the smoke has come back, following another 300km drive back home.

Its smells of burning oil.

I check the oil level and it looks like its over filled. Could this be the problem?

If so, what might be broken? :icon_frown: :icon_frown: :icon_cry:

id take it to a DIFFERENT garage, get them to see if its anything to do with the service, and ask them to write a report on what theyve found............

drop the oil and then put oil back in, the breather pipe is close the where the turbo is so if its over filled then it would run out around there. (stupid location really)

does it say on your receipt how many litres they put in?

Where did you have it serviced? At a dealer/specialist? Normal practice is to fill to half mark on the stick... lot's of threads about overfilling (or filling to 'full').. bit of a schoolboy error if it is this...

Might be worth pulling the intercooler too to see how much oil is in there....

Went there again today and he sprayed it with degreaser, and went for a spin after, seems like the oil smoke has either gone or i didnt get it hot enough, but have a feeling it may have just been oil burning off - well really hoping so :)

I had something similar after a service. Wisps of black smoke coming out from the engine bay, you could smell it when the car was stationary. After about ten days it stopped though. (Should I be worried) Could this be the same as mykp's post.
