Just bought a 2018 Forester yesterday and don't have it home yet as it's snowing bad and it's 60 miles away. It was a dealer's loaner with only 1700 miles. Maybe I'll have more to say after I've driven it for awhile. Did a lot of research before deciding on this one. I'm retired and we're in our early 70s. I may have lots of questions regarding all the electronics on these vehicles now. Our 2001 Chevy P/U is pretty "dumb" compared to today's vehicles. Our old car is even dumber, a 30 yr old Buick Century!!

Welcome to the forums, and you have a good vehicle for such conditions. Lots of really smart and helpful people here with an occasional troll trying to be cute. Mostly, lots of really helpful older folks.

When you buy a new one Subaru has a program whereby. You get a $25 gas certificate forsitting with a specialist as he goes over all the stuff. I am 73 and there is no way I would have bought used. We bought our '18XT new and a '19 Crosstrek.

Consider an extended warranty here: https://www.planetsubaru.com/subaru-added-security.htm

We paid $1345 for 8 year 80K miles zero deductable. Also you pay no tax if out of state (probably). Welcome

Update: Picked up the Forester today and really like it so far. It's what this old fart needs as it has few bells and whistles although they seem like a lot to me.

Welcome Mike, your 2018 makes our 1998 look like a dinosaur. Give yourself credit, you are pretty hip.

Another update: our granddaughter's car was repoed through no fault of her own. She lives in Texas so I contacted my SIL who lives in the same town. She found an '05 Forester for the GD. I paid for it and she will pay me back. It has 140k mi and she was given a history on it. I want to find out if the timing belt has been changed and if not I'll pay to have it done otherwise she'll wind up with a junker.
