Is this normal for a 2.5mt to have a clutch pedal that seems hard to push down, even "arnie" would complain.

It has done nearly 60k, but has always been this hard since i bought it last year.
On motorways etc no probs, but in traffic it does become hard work.

I have had a look under at the back of the pedal and there seems to be a spring set up. My question is can this be adjusted or removed?
Fluid level ok, clutch not slipping.

There is no adjustment for the amount of pressure that needs to be applied. This usually is a sign that the clutch is on its way out.

Thats a bit of a worry, it's been like this for the last 20k. To top this off 4th gear has been a git to use for the last 15k. It's ok at slow speeds and when cold but give it some stick, and "crunch", i do double de clutch which seems to help or go straight from 3rd to 5th.
G/box oil was changed earlier this year with no noticable improvments.

It sounds like you will need to have the transmission pulled out and have everything inspected.
