Has anybody swapped their dash on the SF5 in favor of a newer model dash ?
I read that AngryToaster did so and read that it wasn't plug 'n play (far from it), he had to redrill holes to accomodate a/c/heating lines that didn't line up and more this like that.

I'm curious about wiring and wonder how a new dash + the proper dash wiring will hook up with the older engine harness and such.
ofcourse the connectors (or most of them) will NOT match but i have no problem rewiring/soldering them.

I'm just concerned about the possible use of newer data transmission systems (like the VAG Canbus systems) that prevent the use of modern instrument clusters and electronics on older systems (pre-Canbus).

I'm keen to do it too when someone clears up whats needed to make it work.

I'd image it would be easier if it was coupled with and engine/ECU swap.

I'm hoping to splice into the wiring for the HVAC controls & cluster is a work in progress. Got a early GD HVAC controls on the way (the turning know ones, not the twisty later ones)
