Seen last week near Southampton - New shape Forester in police colours. I presume it was the 2.5 XT but only saw it from a distance. I wonder if they get them 'breathed on' by Subaru? Perhaps I should stick my foot down next time & see if they can catch me  - on second thoughts, perhaps not.

Saw a post elsewhere (Scoobynet I think) some time back saying that the importers were giving the police a couple of test cars - Imprezas and Foresters.
Don't know if they are "specials" but I guess they are top of the range spec.
Presumably on the theory that why should the villains have all the quick cars.

Subaru has won approval as an official police supplier by the Police Information Technology Organisation.

UK police forces already use the Subaru Impreza model, however the company are hoping they also take up the Legacy and Forester makes as well.

Subaru has established a specialist motor services outsource company, Landar, to run a specific Police Sales Unit.

The car manufacturer has announced that this unit run by programme manager Lance Jenkins has already received orders for a number of unmarked Imprezas and Legacys by various constabularies.

The new-look Forester 2.5 XT is the first liveried vehicle to begin trials. It has a 230 PS turbocharged engine, which is capable of 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds.

Mr Jenkins highlighted that while many forces knew about the Impreza's performance, few people appreciated that the Forester model is ideal as an all-terrain vehicle.

He continued: "The legacy is also very attractive as a low-profile 'stealth' car where covert surveillance and eventual pursuit is required."
