Anyone any experience with the grimmspeed tmic on a FSTI
Have been looking for a Hawkeye Sti tmic no luck so far so since i’m getting my engine forged thinking of going down the grimmspeed route rather than a fmic I understand you can also buy a grimmspeed undertray to match.
Advice appreciated

What fmic did you go for, i’ve still got standard turbo would there not be lag with fmic.
Any reason you changed from grimmspeed tmic quality, fit or performance.
Advice appreciated

The fit was excellent and the build quality was great and it supported about 450hp contact Tarmac sportz they can arrange to supply with the under tray.
However if your thinking about going forged I presume there would be a bigger turbo in the mix somewhere down the line, therefore I would go front mount for lower ait this would stop you from buying twice as I have on several things not just intercoolers .

In my opinion tmic s are a bad design over 70mph the air going over the bonnet misses the scoop entirely and the tmic still sits on top the engine and still gets heat soaked when in traffic .

Ive learnt recently that lag can be mapped out of big turbo applications by a competent mapper.(well most of it) I also think if your turbo is in A1 condition it would be enough to fill the extra pipe work that's associated with lag .

Lockheed thanks for input very much appreciated.
Your right I probably will go with a larger turbo in the future so what you are saying makes sense, can you tell me what fmic you went for and is it a straight fit, I have looked at the Perrin one for the xt any idea if that will fit the fsti.

Do Perrin make a front mount intercooler for the xt ? if so its news on me . it would be excellent tho but it would still mean comprehensive cutting of the almost irreplaceable fsti front bumper . Havin said that if you look at my front mount intercooler thread you will see its not impossible or even that nasty .
I have a perrin item bought from scoobyclinic , designed for the impreza

Did you move your Front number plate as the square one looks like it would block airflow.
Taken the plunge changed my mind and getting a FMIC fitted.Car is with garage for a cdb forged engine build I also understand I will need a short arm induction kit any suggestions on which one to get.
Would you advice waiting on the run in period is finished before fitting FMIC and induction kit then fit and map.

Yes you've got the idea . I changed my number plate size and shape for an ali pressed item to get more flow I even messed around tilting the number plate to create more airflow but it looked nasty so I kept it flat .
The induction kit . I made my own by cutting down a hks induction tube and a rcm ali spun trumpet and k+n cone filter.

And yes I would wait until you have all of the parts possible fitted before mapping .

I see your oop north so can I recommend Pat Herborn for mapping ?
