Howdy everyone! Greetings from the state of Nevada.
A little over one year ago I first Subaru when shopping for a new daily driver and more economical adventure wagon. A 2011 Forester X caught my eye, and after really inspecting and driving it I fell in love. While it’s a long departure from the large American trucks I’m used to (my previous daily was a 1970 GMC 3/4 ton Suburban), it’s been a perfect car for my use of long distance driving both on and off roads.
In that one year I’ve put over 30k miles on drives around the American West. Throwing on some winter tires and getting lost up in the Ruby Mountains, or pushing through old roads to long abandoned ghost towns along the Toiyabe range. With a roof top tent, the trunk packed full of camp supplies, and bikes racked up, the car has taken me through some amazing places.
So far I’ve done some of the basics, A/T tires, full size spare, lighting, and replacing/upgrading parts facing that abuse. Soon I plan on a lift, as well as some further upgrades for more long distance drives on unmaintained roads (Nothing like NV’s 100+ mile dirt roads without a soul in sight).
I’ve been lurking on the forum for well over a year for technical information and guides, so I figured it is about time I sign up.
Thank you! And look forward to plenty more years of Subaru love!
