I think peanuts wagon said he has a few turbos that he is willing to part with. More than just what he had posted. Hit him up with a PM and see if he has any others. Seems like i've seen a few VF 43/48s for sale recently.

The danger to the tranny is always there and should be absolutely kept in mind. IMO, what will kill your tranny (assuming you have the stock clutch) is a) driver and b) those tunes where boost ramps up as fast as possible, creating a huge spike in torque around 3K. Time to start looking at dyno graphs and comparing different tunes.

Ideally, you'll have a flat curve that does not taper off towards redline, that will keep you accelerating hard all the way to redline. That huge torque spike may look cool and makes for good bragging rights, but your tranny will not like it. My car held up fine at 270wtq/270whp with 14-15psi tune, this was a Mustang that isn't the highest-reading in our area.

STi rack and 22mm-24mm front sway bar is what I'd add to the list of future upgrades.

Man, it sounds like you've probably depleted the $1000 down a bit by now.

Once you've got most of what you want for this round of buying you might as well get new bushings. You can use those to finish draining whatever remains of your budget.

The 48 is sitting on my kitchen table, should be going into my XT this weekend.

But, Peanuts does seem to have a pretty regular stock of good turbos. Shoot him a PM, he is a great guy to work with. Plus, I think he has a hook up to powder coat it as well.

Sorry for any confusion...I already have the Cobb and downpipe and have an extra $1,000 to spend on performance mods. So maybe I should just do a TMIC and a custom tune for now.
Didn't get that at first. Sorry.

STI TMIC - $300
STI VF39 - $300
JDM Scoop - $250
Paint - $100-200
-STI Axle back - $100.

Now you're looking just over $1000 for solid mods.

Then save up another $400-500 for a good solid custom tune from a reputable tuner and you'll see your car go crazy.

You should look into a new splitter as well to properly feed that intercooler. SubtleSolutions makes them, and they're awesome.

Can I ask what you got the vf48 for?

I know it sounds like a copout, but I would rather not discuss prices here. Feel free to PM Peanuts and ask him, you have my blessing. Its not to be a [email protected]&$, just keeping good relations with a great seller. I can say I feel we both did good on the sale, and I will happily seek him out for future transactions as well as refer others to him for sale items.

I hope that isn't offensive.

Carry on with the mods thread!!

No offense taken! I guess I was asking in general. I'll send him a message tomorrow. Thanks for the help!

Hey buddy. So Its winter mod time... game on I may say. Im in the middle of motor build. As far as turbo goes, what kind of power would you like to see. If you go anything bigger then a vf/td05-16g then your going to need injectors also.

Yeah no joke! Ha I think the vf line is where I'm gonna stay. Thinking the vf48. As far as power, I am hoping for around 270awhp. I am sure I can get more with a upgraded turbo, but I'd like to stay in the mid to upper end of what the build can achieve. I will be daily driving the car.

300 sounds fair with oem stock injectors if its manual. For a conservative powerful tune on vf39, 43 or 48.
That's kind of what I'm thinking...have any turbo's laying around Peanuts? :icon_biggrin:

The TMIC, Cobb, Up-pipe should be here next week! The downpipe was delivered today! :woohoo:
