Hey guys! Checking in from Wheat Ridge Colorado.
Doing some shopping, and definitely picking up a Forester this weekend.
I'm actually going to look at a 98 today!

I've got an 02 GTI right now...but that thing's gotta go. Too many little problems all the time. It's like having a car payment that I don't want!

Anyhoo...after selling the GTI I'll have a little play around money. Hopefully the 98 I look at today has a phase 2 DOHC 2.5 in it. If that's the case, there's probably gonna be a frankenmmotor in my near future.

I'll keep posted on what I end up with...should have something in the driveway by Sunday at the latest.
Until then, time to research throwing some dual port EJ22 heads on the beast with some Delta 1500 cams!

Welcome from Memphis TN. The Frankenmotor definitely sounds interesting, good to see some other NA tuners here.

Tuner is a funny word to me...but I guess I fall in there!
I'm gonna miss boost. A lot. But I need the AWD that the GTI didn't have.
So I figure I can farm some power out of this thing, while still keeping it my DD.

Doing lots of research lately trying to figure out how to do that, and the 2.2 and cam swap sound like my best/easiest option right now!

It'll take 6 psi fine but it's not recommended to go over 8 psi or so to avoid splitting the open-deck cylinder walls.

Oh! Good to know!!!
Boost may be a little out of the budget right now...but that's definitely something to keep in mind!!
I'm kind of excited to see what I can do with it all-motor.

Got One!!
1998 Black S series. 221K on the ODO, 142K on the engine. Came with most of the original 2.5...so I have stuff for a FrankenMotor!
Leather grey interior, body in great shape.
Within 3 hours of owning it, I had already replaced the struts and done some other goodies.
Still needs a rack, and other misc stuff.
I'm gonna start a build thread in the next couple days. I have a feeling it's gonna morph pretty quickly.....
