I'm thinking of buying a Garmin Nuvi 500 before my trip to the Colorado, where we intend to do some limited hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. So I want a GPS that is good for driving and for hiking. Does anyone have any experience with using this model, or a recommendation of a better one? Thanks. Tom

I have a couple of Garmin Nuvi 750's (one for the motorcycle and one from the truck). They're great GPS units for your car, however, they're not the greatest for hiking. It'll tell you you're off road, but it won't be as specific as a hiking gps will. If you plan on using it mostly on road, you'll be in good shape.
