I heard that Subaru just released a front lincense plate holder for the latest generation Forester. Does anyone know the part number?

How does this mount to the bumper? My dealer drilled holes into the bumper cover to mount the license plate. I am looking for a bracket that catches the two existing inset holes in the bumper cover.

Between this and the Automatic climate control, makes me wonder how well designed are Subarus?

yep.
if they drilled them properly, this place would utilize the holes which were pre-drilled.

it comes with spacers/cushions and installation hardware.

pretty simple to install. looks better than 2 holes in the bumper ;)

quite a popular little item since it's release...

Yeah I got pretty pissed when the dealer just drilled into my front bumper like it was nothing at all, in my head I was like dude I just spent 23 k and your putting a hole in my bumper. So this would utilize the stock holes??? LIke the big holes that were there??? Does anyone have a pic of a 06 forester with no license plate on it so I can see the mounting holes??? Thanx for the help.

I like the looks of this holder. I think I'll have to order one for my 05. Our cars should come from port with the holder (in states which require a front tag). I'll chalk it up to decontenting...thank goodness for those Subaru Bucks.

Subie Gal, How much for the bracket? I'm just down the road (405) in Renton and can cruise up and get one.

see the link in post #2...
that's the discounted internet price.

if you want that price you have to order on line
and indicate you wish to pick up in "comments" section

if you drive up and pick up without preordering, then pay full retail

cheers

I just got mine from the UPS guy from Jamie.... sadly.. the two holes that go through the two rubber spacers don't match the two factory holes for the 06 Forester.. atleast the ones on the one I have(east mid atlantic). They match the ones the dealer drilled but thoose holes are bigger then the supplied screwes. Oh well...

Arrggh.

Is there any way to make it work?

I guess, in cases where a dealership has drilled holes...
this may be a case to case fitting issue.

I will take it back if the kit is like new, all original.

shout if you need my help.

I finally got around to taking two pictures, I'm going to just keep it since *someone* took my car and somehow decided to park realy close to the garage and crack the dealer frame hah. I just went out to Target and got their plate screws since theirs were deeper then the ones the dealer used + they are stainless and used the dealer holes to mount the holder.

First Pic(nice round holes on the outside are factory holes, the messy ones on the inside are the dealer's)

Second Pic(Plate holder below the holes, as you can see they don't match the factory "holes" but the dealer drilling)

I think the factory holes are not intended for North American license plates to start with.
