Returning to OZ Sept - Nov & considering buying a car while we are there & then re-selling when we leave. May rent a pop-up trailer for various trips, but don't plan on doing any hard core off road. Not looking for anything fancy (tho A/C would be nice), 2, maybe3, people, and would like to be able to go places that might not be possible in an ordinary car. For what we need, it sounds like a Forester would do the trick. Comments, suggestions?

for towing the pop-up, check the tow rating on both. I believe the Outback may be higher depending on year.

The outback is a slightly bigger car. longer wheel base. longer. but a bit lower then the foz. The longer wheel base makes the car more comfortable to drive I imagine. It got a bit more space then the foz.
Both cars will do great for light offroading. The outback have a bit more overhang infront of the wheels tho.
