Forester XT Owners & Fans from the 2014 model don't have the distinguishing hood scoop to show they have a turbo engine sleeping there. It makes common marketing sense to recommend/insist that Subaru Japan re-introduces World Rally Blue Pearl as a choice of colour from 2015-model on, probably to be launched in April 2014 already. Let's tell our dealers, clubs & Japan Marketing Head Office that many do want WR Blue back as a choice. The last one for a Forester XT was 2008, like mine.

Of course, only the scoopless turbo XT models should have this iconic blue. I shall not buy a 2014 or later unless I have that colour.

You have interesting criteria for choosing a vehicle.

I won't be sharing your recommendation for WRB. That's partly because I had an '11 WRX in WRB, and felt like I was driving around a neon sign the year I owned it. But that was not the WRX's fault, nor the WRB, because those two go together. It was the image that was wrong. When I traded the WRX for an STi Limited in OBP that changed, and the image was corrected.

A large percentage of Forester owners, especially FXT owners, are older and beyond the place where their image is satisfied with a blazing neon color for their new, sophisticated and refined, 2014 Forester XT. In the same context, I'm more than pleased that the hood scoop has been replaced by more efficient, invisible, ductwork. My LGT, WRX and STi all had hood scoops and I enjoyed them. The 2014 FXT has moved to another dimension. Subaru will never ruin them with WRB, nor hood scoops again.

Please reconsider your position. The new Forester XT is simply too rewarding a vehicle to drive to eliminate it from your consideration, for any reason.

Why not buy one, then have a paint shop paint it in the color you want?

Then you will have a 1 of a kind.

Just sayin'... :shrug::icon_wink:

I agree WRB doesn't really fit on the forester. It did on my WRX!

That being said, Subaru isn't that great on offering color choices, although I see red is now offered on the BRZ!

VW is worse with color choices, for example some models of golf (excluding GTI) aren't offered with a single color! Unless you count varying shades of grey or white...

Subaru does make a WRB Forester S for the Japanese and Australian markets. To each their own, and in my opinion the colour does not fit the larger 09+bodies.
+1

Also, notice the difference in marketing and target audiences in the US vs. the rest of the world that is very well demonstrated in this thread, and it becomes quite clear why there is no such thing offered here in America.

BUT, the color isn't for everyone for sure. For me, while I do like to look at it, I still wasn't interested in having my WRX in that color either. Personal preference. I see VERY few in that color, which is a good indicator that only a small percentage bought it in the US, and that would indicate it likely won't be coming back.

I would buy WRBlue for a Forester XT, I like the looks of that color. I'm unconcerned about onlookers perceptions concerning my tastes and motivations. A real red like Toyota's current Barcelona red would be preferable to the Forester medium blah red. Or a bright copper, that would look good on a Forester wagon too. Keep the vivid colors only for the XT's, the medium blah metallics for the others.

I prefer the more low key look of the current model. Scoops attract the attention of a certain public service sector that I prefer to have minimal interaction with.

With the new turbo placement, I'd prefer to see a front-mount IC fed by the gills in the bumper (with ducts to the brakes as well). Now that's a change I could get behind. It would turn a styling detail into a functional detail. Subaru likes their top-mounts though.

I'm not much of an attention whore, so I could not care less if people know what type of aspiration the engine uses via inference through the body work. It's the opposite in fact; I prefer the huge capability with minimal pretension that is the strength of the Forester. I'm sure the aftermarket will soon start to satisfy the needs of the peacocks out there.

While fewer options in the beige, gray and silver palette would be nice, I feel that WRB in spirit belongs with the chassis on which most of the Subaru rally cars are built -- the Impreza. Colour is a choice that has little effect on other buyers though, so yeah, offer them all. WRB looks good on anything it's put on -- except mine.

I have to agree.

Colour is a VERY personal choice and each to their own.

I have always been firmly in the "sleeper" camp but to be honest, since I saw ExRex's car on OzFoz, I can't stop thinking about a re-spray :icon_eek: . Beautiful!

That does look pretty good... WRB has always been my favourite Subie colour! I never liked my silver... one day if I'm feeling flush I'd like to get it painted :icon_surprised:

You're talking like previous WRB FXT's were a mistake. While I understand that your image is important to you, there's still a good customer base for those who appreciate a little bit of color.

Good catch. Now that you put it that way, I can see that my wording did not reflect my intent. My apologies to all WRBP loving fans/owners.

I meant, I firmly doubt that Subaru will offer WRBP Forester XTs henceforth, as that color's connotation is out of context with the new FXT. Same with the hoodscoop.

That said, my original poetic hyperbole was accurate in conveying how firmly I believe that.

My thoughts exactly. As much as people do not like it, the Forester has become more mainstream than before. Hood scoops and wild paint colors don't really fit in with the new Forester's image.
