Does anybody know if a hitch from a 2001 Forester would fit a 2007 model?

Depends on where it came from. Most hitches I find on Ebay say 98-08. I think you'll be fine.

I have no idea if it will fit, but I'm looking for a tow hitch for my 2001:icon_biggrin: Maybe will buy it from you if it doesn't fit?

The same 12038 hitch fits 1998-2008. Unless the hitch from the 2001 is local and clean, it might be preferable to buy a new painted hitch from eBay for around $140 shipped. As opposed to having a rusty used hitch shipped in and then prepped and painted.
The hitch on my truck became very rusty after ten years and had to be removed and re-powder coated. I almost could have bought a new one for what all that cost.
