Hi all. I've been an owner of a 2001 Forester for a few years now. I've had the head gasket issue and had the motor rebuilt. So far so good I hope. Had temps fluctuate last week and looked like Tstat issue. Drained the coolant and pulled the Tstat out of the housing and replaced it after bending the tabs over the center part to keep it in place. Seems to be running fine now. I've got about 15k more on the motor warantee. I'm going to drive it some more and make sure the head gasket hasn't pooped the bed again.
The car has 286k miles on the odometer. It's got the 2.5L SOHC motor. I'm curious if there are any milage tweaks to be found. I drive this car about 700 miles a week.
