I just bought a 2006 Forester X and the 6 year/80,000 Mile extended warranty through Subaru is $1,100. Do you all think it is worth it? I'm trying to decide if it is. If not, I'd like to cancel and put that money towards paying the loan down a bit. The GAP insurance is $499 and I may just keep that unless I find a cheaper place to buy it.

Re.

Gap insurance is well worth getting for peace of mind. Considering the alternative, if something happened you could be looking at a big difference even with high-resale-value vehicles! (and no I don't seel insurance.)

just my $0.02

The GAP Insurance on my 2002 (48k miles) Forester is $495. I was also able to buy a 4yr./48k warranty for $1500. Both of these are just piece of mind type purchases. IMHO, forestFL is right, the consequences of not having either of these items for your vehicle could be a steep price to pay.
