I'm putting a new engine in my Forester, I usually use Castrol syntec engine oil. I'm just curious what kind of oil everyone in this forum uses and how their boxer reacts to it?

Break-in the motor and wait a while before using synthetic oil, and use the oil of the correct viscosity for the area where you live. For example, on my Forester I use 5W-30 oil winter and summer. I used Castrol GTX 5W-30, and then switched to synthetic oil after 6,000 miles.

For break-in, I'd use some regular dino oil. Once it has about 1000 miles on it, then I's switch to a good synthetic.
