Hello, Just wanted to get your guys' help with something. Recently I just turned my 2009 Subaru Forester over to idle and warm up before I went out for a hike. I noticed it making this kicking or chugging noise and need some help with potential next steps.

The car has just under 150k miles to it, and I had an oil change recently at a Valvoline where they gave me new 5W30 Synthetic blend. Should I be using full synthetic/high mileage mix at this point? Do you guys think the noise could be from the oil change?

When I turn the car over it smells like new oil in the cabin, something I've just come to accept.

So - is more like a "rough idle"? If so do a search for "rough idle" and review the info presented.
