I just bought my 4th Subaru, a 2004 Forester 2.5X,129k miles, timing belt broke. I had a 98 Outback Wagon,EJ25, that sucked, bought with blown engine, installed JDM EJ25, went 60k and rod started knocking, put in EJ20, that was a mistake, no power, even with a 5 speed. So my dilemma is, do I rework the heads and keep this engine, or get a JDM EJ253 and swap the intake? I was a Master M-B,BMW, Toyota tech so engine work isnt an issue, I just dont want to drop in a weak 2.0, or 2.2 motor. This car has an auto transmission.The car over all is in great shape, bought from second owner and she kept it up, had the T belt replaced last year but doofus who did the work-a "friend" did a half assed job and only did belt and water pump, no pulleys, no tensioner. Interested in y'alls thoughts.
