Hi guys my 97 forrester has started bubbling and blowing coolant out overflow. Thermostat has just been replaced as old one wasnt opening. I am thinking head gaskets but thought someone may know of a common problem before i start stripping engine.

Likely. Possibly replace the cap with a genuine subaru one.

Yesssss new cap has fixed problem. But i have had trouble with it dieing while driving. Doesnt always do it but il be driving and all of a sudden it cuts out after a cough and a fart. It has been on 2 diagnostic machines but comes back with no faults. Can be dangerous when entering an intersection. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hmm hard to tell.. Have you changed the fuel filter and spark plugs recently?

When is it stuttering? When you give full throttle or when your reach a specific RPM range?

Yea its good to list your location. Other members can point you to the best tuners, independent shops and even help you out.

I would agree, tune-up with plugs, wires and a fuel filter.

I would also suggest a compression test, and maybe a leak-down test, just to be sure the HG's are OK.

Thanks guys im in taupo nz will get onto plugs, leads and tuneup as funds allow. The old saying "if its got **** or tyres its gunna cost you money"
