I'm looking at purchasing my first set of winter tires for my 02 Forester. I'll be doing a lot of interstate driving in the midwest that wont necessarily be snow covered. From specs, it seems like the Graspic DS-3 would be less squirmy than a blizzak, but I'm hoping some of you guys have experience in both....

I'm concerned the they're going to be so squirmy on dry roads I'll be kicking myself for spending $500+ for a set.

Well, I can't answer your question on the Graspic DS-3. Sorry for that, but I will share my experience with the Hankook IceBear W300. It was the best handling snow tire I have driven on. I ran these on my STi and on dry / wet pavement they really held the road well, with a relatively solid sidewall (for a snow tire). In normal snow fall conditions - 1-5" they were incredible...in snow deeper than 6" they were alright....in the midwest (Cincinnati) we don't get much snowfall over 5" at a time.
