Looking for some help on figuring out what this noise is.

-Happens randomly. Even under the same conditions sometimes it will, sometimes it won’t.

-Happens the most frequently under high torque, up hill, while accelerating.

-Trans Fluid : Not yet, wasn’t on the maintenance schedule.

-CVT
[/QUOTE]Topic much discussed, INSPECT means look at, top up, or re place in SubaruEse.

Also, SevereService calls out drain fill~30000 miles... drive in hot we ather, near the coast, take a short trip or two qualifies.

My diffs and trans are on a 30000 mi sch.

You are still under 100000 mid extended trans warr., have a funny noise supported by video - show a Suby service writer.

Doesn't sound like a drive train mechanical issue to me, more two parts making contact under certain conditions

Update : I believe it is an issue with the AC compressor.

I don’t really drive with the AC on often unless it’s over 90*

Turning on today on accelerating the AC blows warm air, and airflow will fluctuate massively.

Final Update : Fixed.

I’m not sure exactly the issue however a TCM and ECM update fixed the issue.

Tech said this is a known “spark knock” that is caused during hot air intake during high heat days.

This issue may have been more extreme because of the Colorado mountain air already being low on oxygen, so hot air is even lower.
