Hello and thanks again to all with my last post and I really enjoy it here cause all the people are very knowledgeable. I don't know by my searching if there is a thread about this?

My daughter has a 2005 forester that just recently the doors lock even with the drivers side open all by itself then the alarm starts going off until I pull the fuse out. After I pull the fuse then she has no interior lights at all except for the dome light that you have to press to come on. I'm not sure where to even start looking and any help is greatly appreciated

She bought the car back in September with bent valves, rebuilt entire engine and it just recently started this about 2 weeks ago. I will check out the thread you sent and post back.

Not it's all stock nothing added on. I've read that passive alarm article but I'm not sure I am ready to take it to the dealer to have them diagnose it because it just started out of nowhere. Do you know if they have a door /hood /trunk that has a switch that might be be pressed down when closed that could trigger it

You could check to see if the passive alarm connector is connected?

In the Owner's Manual > Keys and Doors > Passive arming. The procedure with diagrams on what to connect is there.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you just been very busy, OK I checked the manual and didn't see anything like that in there. I checked get remote and she only has the lock /unlock button, no panic button so I don't know if it even has an alarm system. Also when I pull the fuse to stop it from going off by itself the instrument cluster loses all lights as well as the rest of the interior. Thanks for all the helpful info

Did you put the under hood switch back in the correct position?
(There's 2 psotions, 1 is correct, the other is not - I can't remember which is the correct position off the top of my head - it is near the screenwash reservoir and the strut post on that side.)

As to no "panic button, from the owners manual:
• To activate the panic alarm, keep the lock button pressed for more than two seconds. The horn will sound and the turn signal lights will flash.
• To deactivate it, press any button on the remote transmitter. Unless a button on the remote is pressed, the alarm will be deactivated after approximately 30 seconds.
I'm going to guess that your remote fob is the one in the center, if so, that's the standard remote fob that came on your '05.

Curious... what fuse are you pulling?

Looking here on cars101.com - 2005, it appears the keyless entry was standard, but the security system was optional on all models except the XS LL Bean. Still... if the horn is going off, then that appears to indicate a security system is present.

The remote I got is the one in the middle. I know I could just disconnect the horn relay and solve the problem that way but being that it's my daughters car I want her to have a horn plus be able to unlock it with the remote. I'm pulling the 3rd fuse under the dash from the top left

That is correct because like I said the doors lock automatically then the horn goes off and by pulling that fuse shuts it off

@beecho2 as I noted, if the alarm is sounding... the horn honking, your '05 has a security system.

You could try unplugging the Security Control Module, but I'm not sure what other unwanted sides affects that could cause?

It's not as simple as pulling a fuse, as the fuse feeds 12 different circuits!

Take a look at the diagram below, which shows the location of the security control module. Note that the '05 model year was a transition year & my Subaru Technical service documents skip the '05 model year... '03-'04, '06-'08.

Well removed the keyless alarm module and now the locks work again and the interior lights as well. So it looks like it needs a new module if I want the alarm active if not I'll just leave it the way it is. Thanks again @2.5x_sleeper!!!! I'm sure I'll have other questions in the future
