I've seen a couple threads that deride Subaru's lack of auto door locks. I didn't realize that and I drove the first couple hundred miles with the doors unlocked. How can they not have that.

My actual question has to do with unlocking. Thinking of more than 50 years of cars I've been in, I've never seen one where the driver has to unlock the door (electrically or mechanically) before the door will open. I hate that. Am I missing a setting some where? I checked the manual again and can't find anything.

Thanks 2.5x_sleeper, but those threads were about locking. My morning complaint is about unlocking. Is there a mechanism or mechanical switch setting that allows the driver's door to open with the door handle without unlocking it first?
