Hi,
The SLS supsoension on my SG9 MY06 (what I call the facelift model) failed before Chirstmas. Following the example given on here I decided to replace the SLS struts with KYB equivalents and standard (stronger) springs from a non SLS SG9. Fairly confident the ride height would be more or less the same.
WRONG! As warned by my local Subaru garage the rear ride height is MUCH lower, like 2 -2.5 inches. What have I done wrong?
I got KYB dampers, part no:334344/45 and coil springs from a normal non-sls SG model. Ride height is way WAY lower.
Should I have changed the top mounts (top hats) to non-sls, are they thicker? Or, should I have used the KYB fitting kit (SM5422)???
The garage compared the coil before fitting them. The replacements are the same length and clearly stronger. The dampers appear to be the same length as well. So they can only suggest the springs are still too weak.
Any hints/advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
