So the turbo went out on my 04 FXT daily driver at 75k miles. After reading many threads on this forum and based on the sequence of events that occurred when it went out, I expected to find a disintegrating pre-cat. The bearings are shot but no sign of debris damage and the pre-cat looks fine. I'm ready to install a replacement turbo and a cat-less uppipe but I don't want to destroy the new(used) turbo if I haven't fixed whatever caused the problem in the first place. Is there a way to verify the oil and water flow to the turbo? Do turbos just go bad for no reason?
