So I recently bought my first Forester (2000 S) and the cruise control doesn't activate when I hit the button. The light isn't coming on, nothing's happening. The same happens for the rear defroster button except when I hit it there is a click that sounds like it's coming from the dash. Anyone have an idea of what's going on or at least where I can start troubleshooting. Maybe the fuse box? Thanks

Cruise control operation requires that the vehicle speed be over 25 mph, that the cruise control main switch (button) be turned on, and that the control lever be toggled to "SET". I don't know at what point in this sequence that the CC indicator is turned on. See OM pages 7-28 through -30 for more info.

Although you can hear the rear defrosted relay activate, the problem could be the fuse for the defroster element. See pages 10-42 through -45 and 11-4 through -6 in your OM for more info on fuse panel locations, circuit assignments, and fuse values.
