I've got an upgraded STi rear ARB with whiteline adjustable droplinks.

Recently I noticed there was a creaking from the rear on cornering which got worse and worse.

I had a look underneath and saw that the droplinks (that have only been in a few months) were pretty corroded. I brushed them a bit and sprayed with WD40.

THis seems to have (possible temporarily) cured the problem.

But I also noticed that the droplinks were at quite an angle - is this normal?

I can get them adjusted, but wanted to find out if its the fittment thats causing the problem or the actual droplink corrosion (most likely corrosion in the joints as the WD40 cured it).

Any help or guidance gratefully received.

Ideally they shouldn't be angled but since these are rose jointed ones it whould be OK? Someone could confirm though.
I thought whiteline bits were stainless steel or aluminium?!
Another example where aftermarket parts are of possibly worse quality than OEM ones

yowzers! this is concerning! I have same on front end of my SF5, fitted last summer and no corrosion thus far...

how long have you had these on for mate?

being daft, that looks like the front and not rear, could be with them being adjustable is confusing.
but would have thought there shouldnt be that amount off angle.

the whiteline ARB droplinks on the front end of my MY01 S-Turbo are not rose jointed.

LOL - trust me, thats the rear!

They were fitted in Nov last year.

But I do live by the coast and the car's not garaged, but still, I wouldn;t have thought they should have corroded so fast!

They seem to work OK and the noise has gone, so I'm assuming the angle isn;t a problem - they were fitted bu James at GRD so I'm pretty sure he knows his stuff!. What I may do it remove them, clean them up, pack some appropriate grease in joints and put the covers back on.

Either that or just keep wd40ing them

It might be worth cleaning them up and spraying up with a good zinc rich paint, or alloy bond stainless steel spray

indeed strange how much corrosion on them. what is the metal? machined or drop-forge? go with frazer's advice I reckon!
