There is a long and complicated thread on oil somewhere here, and a few poeple felt that Subarus burn oil if it's the wrong grade/viscosity. My Foz has been using oil for a while and I dreaded the Knackered valve/rebore scenario, I thought I would post this here for anyone who can't wade (ha ha) through the oil post and might be worried about oil consumption. After many many pages of very technical analysis and discussion, based on my location and climate (Co. Wicklow, East coast, Ireland) I figured 10W40 in a semi synthetic should do. So, oil change, fingers crossed and three weeks later and about 1000+ miles and no drop in oil level. So perhaps there is something in this correct viscosity thingy. I was adding around half a litre a week before and I could see smoke under acceleration at nightin the headlights of the cars following me, not so now.
