coolant level???

Hi all...I was checking my fluid levels and noticed my coolant reservoir was pretty much empty(engine was cold).After a drive i checked again and it was on full mark.Is this normal or should i top it up when engine is cold..If i need to top up do i mix the antifreeze or just pour it in..It has green antifreeze in It.Radiator itself is full.any help appreciated.thanks.

When cold, the coolant level should be sitting at the cold mark. It is rather far down on the plastic resevoir, and if you are in a garage when checking and you don't have a flashlight, you probably won't be able to see any coolant in it. At hot, it should be nearly full.
