I’m looking for the engine block coolant drain plugs on a 2003 Forester XS.
Does anyone know the location and plug type? Are they 14mm hex or torx?

I’ve looked underneath and I can see a few large plugs. I’d like to get all the coolant out to do a proper flush.

Do the newer FB engines have these block plugs?

Thanks.

Looking for the 14mm hex coolant block plugs on a 2015 Forester FB 2.5i CVT engine.
On some Subarus, this hex plug is located near the thermostat housing.

Can't you just point the car downhill and remove the lower radiator hose? Then if your that concerned, fill system again with distilled water(and drain again)...

I would not bother with engine plugs.

Thanks. I would like to know where they are located. The plugs provide the lowest point for coolant drain, lower than the thermostat housing. I’d like to remove the plug and anti seize the threads. Maybe someone has an FSM diagram showing this plug. Would appreciate it.
