Hi, just started on this forum. I have just returned from 20 odd years in Germany back to UK. I will probably have to sell my Subaru (left hand drive) as it will be too expensive to change to UK specs but if any one knows how this can be done cheaply please let me know. The lights and fog lights must be changed and the speedometer must be altered to Miles per hour.

I also have a Mercedes and phoned to see how much that would cost and to change the speedometer they reckoned £1,000!!!

The Subaru was my husband's car and I would have liked to keep it but its going to be tooooo expensive. Any advice on Subaru or Mercedes would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Hi there, I seem to remember reading in the daily telegraph motoring section (honest john) that there is a good specialist LHD garage in the uk, but I can't remember the name. Try searching for "left hand drive car sales" in google you'll find pages of them that may be prepared to take both cars off your hands. Ask around in the European section too...

SaffiSw, a little OT but what's it like buying a used car from Germany ? I've been told this is the best location in Europe as they are very strict on paperwork and it should result in the most "honest" sale you'll find.

They have a huge choice of cars too... it's the best place in Europe for that.
