I have a invidia catted down pipe on my forester and recentley I started hearing a noise that comes from the transmission tunnel. I took it to my exhaust shop and looked around for sections of the exhaust that might be touching and couldn't find anything. We think that the cat might be broken.

Has anyone had this happen to them before? Is it an option to just break the cat out and run a cat-less downpipe?

Thanks,
Joe

Check the mounting location just past the bend and before where it connects to the midpipe. That bolt can become just loose enough for the downpipe to contact the car, but still be solid enough that it doesn't move much by hand.

I had a horrible rattle and thought my front diff or cat (Cobb DP) was going bad, but it turned out to be that bolt.
