So I have that dreaded 420 engine code and I have to do a new Cat on my subbie. I am looking at a bolt on replacement since i don't have 800$ to have the muffler shop do it.

What I need to know is what bolt on replacements have you guys tried and what companies to avoid ordering from? i have done some reading on JCwitney's page and some of them aren't actually a direct bolt on or have had defects that have cause installation problems.

Thanks for any input you guys may have for me. :)

I had thought about that but since this is the stock cat and it has over 160k on it I thought it might just be best to replace it. I had read that it's a 50/50 shot on whether or not cleaning was effective or not.

In that case, Bosal makes a very nice bolt-in cat for the '02. I'd trust them more than other aftermarket brands because they manufacture OEM exhaust systems for several major car makers including Subaru's SPT branded pieces. 49-state legal and priced at just over $300 at rockauto.com.

More Information for BOSAL 0961862
