Hello all,
I'm a new member here and in December '05, I bought a 2001 S Premium with 88k (now has 93k).
My CEL came on recently, took it in to Webster Groves Subaru (anyone else use them?) and was told that the Cat. Converter needs to be replaced for $830. I didn't get the code and can't afford to replace it right now but plan on it when I can. My MPG has been unexpectedly low (no better than 22 and I'm not an aggressive driver) and have had some rattles at around 1700 rpm that sound exhaust-ish.
My question: are these related? and since I'm mechanically declined should I trust what the dealer says or look into other options? (they haven't given me reason not to trust them)

Cheers,
Chris

This may be a basic question - humor me here - what is the purpose of a high flo cat. and pros and cons to having one on my car? MPG, power, CEL turning on?
If it'll improve my car and it's cheaper, I should probably consider another route?!
Thanks much,
Chris
