Sorry to be a pedantic arse but in England it is fibre not fiber (US spelling) and Nurburgring not Nuremberg (totally different city)

PS is his company Welcome to NUR Motorsport by any chance?

What does every one think about carbon fibre parts.

I was speaking to my mates dad, his company deal with carbon fibre parts for modifying cars.
He's got a Porsche 911 "carbon fibre" (ED whatever that is!) with a Nurburgring race track map in the roof and an (ED I think he means) all in (ED I doubt its ALL) carbon fibre Skyline gt-s that looks like an R (ED or 'a GTR').

More to the point I asked him if he could make some items.

What items would people want to seen being made if i can get some ideas I can get him to make some models. If I get some interest I can get a group buy on it if price is right.

RIP the English language, murdered by 'Yoofs' with txt spk daily.

Bonnet is the thing most likely to attract some interest I would think.

[ED: I may be able to get a Group Buy if I get some interest and the price is right.]

Jeez guys, evil is new on here, let's give him a break, eh? Unless we'd rather not have any new forum members, of course..?

Sorry to rant, but, you know, state education ain't what it used to be!

we talking actual carbon fibre, or stick on sheets?

ive never seen the point of stick on, your adding weight as opposed to reducing it, which is of course the essence of carbon fibre.......

Carbon fibre is great stuff in its place, especially when done by a skilled laminator.....it can be done very badly tho, and look a bit cats *

As for weight, it really depends what you are replacing. CF is heavier than plastic, so unless the laminator is very good at thin wall or hollow structures it could weigh more than the plastic part its replacing....it can be a strong as steel tho, and weigh about the same as aluminium

agree with tarmac boy, making carbon fiber bits is an art. One of my customers makes wings for racing cars and racing car bodies and they've spent a fortune in making their stuff super light while being super strong.

wish your mates dad all the best with his business
