Crikey thats cheap. Tensioner is normally changed on inspection?
I paid about the same as nick, except my tensioner was a bit more expensive , plus I have all the other belts changed as well.
I should add the garage I used is no longer in existance, but I now use Autotechnica, Buxton Subaru Centre and Adam does a Damn good job. Might be worth asking how much he charges.

or if you want something closer to Manchester try Prosport in Manchester. You can find the number yourself for them.

Great excuse for a ride in the Peaks whilst Im waiting
About the same price at Europa Subaru in Sheffield. Changed the aux belts myself.

£38 for belt off ebay, £70 for pulleys and £100 labour..
make sure they check and if neccessary replace the tensioner. My car had only done 46,000 when I replaced my cam belt and the tensioner was fooked. It had so little tension you could push it in with 1 finger.

The new one by contrast we had to put in a vice to wind back in after some idiot pulled the retaining pin out!
My Forrester is a 1999 normaly aspirated SOHC 2 litre.

I paid £165 inc vat for the cam belt and cam belt kit (pulleys and tensioner) it took me about 5 hrs including coffee breaks - not too bad for a 61 rising 62 year old old fart:Banane08:.

Seriously the single cam engine is easy to do - especially if you are changing the tensioner.

paid about £300 for parts (belt, tensioner, all pulleys and water pump) from Euro-parts

installed it myself..... not the easiest cambelt to do!
