What's the longest surfboard you've fit inside the 2009+ forester and still been able to shut the rear gate?

The 09/10 forester front passenger seat slides all the way up, then reclines flat. It leaves a big cargo area when the back seats are folded too. I'm thinking a 8.5 footer might fit. My 9.5 doesn't. I need a new board that will make a quick getaway after work and let me park with board safely locked inside.

I would say 8.5 feet board would fit no problem has the front stereo console is a little less then what you have in front of the glove compartement but not that much more..

I use to put my friends 9 footer in my 01 Forester, granted it rested on the dash and then again on the rear seats but it fit so I imagine you could fit a 9.5 footer. What I use to do was take the center rear headrest off and put a sweatshirt/wetsuit/towel on the rear seat and then just slide the board up until it rested on the dash board.

'Bahh, we fit an 11'10" longboard in our Suburban. :raspberry: I think it was about 5 inches thick.

I miss surfing... I want to get back into it someday. Wonder what I could fit in the Outback...
