For 10k you can get a really nice SF (older bodystyle forester) but I think that the SG (newer bodystyle) type foresters are out of reach

BTW, are you looking for an S or XT? Why not put 10k toward a downpayment and get yourself a new one? But I totally understand if you don't want to deal with monthly payments and insurance.

if i wasn't still in school i would totally get an xt, but learnin is spensive. I think my price is going to limit me to the older body style as senorsubie said, which is fine as long as i can find a nice one. the 2.5's seem like good motors so i'm guessing 80 or 90,000 miles isn't that big of a problem as long as i keep an eye on the timing belt.
