Hi mates,
Does anyone heard about this disaster of 2008 boxer diesel engine? It is a third one in Bulgaria at 85000km , breaks after normal driving around 100km/h! Warranty expired 2month ago! We are looking of e-mail of FHI in Japan to complain. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1348251967.716573.jpg

I pray my Forester 2010 EURO5 is with different crankshaft!!!

sadly there have been a few. I've read of a couple of early Legacys and saw a Forester for sale w/ broken crank on ebay about a year back.

Yeah.. my 2008 boxer broke the crankshaft about 4.000km after warranty ran out...

the danish importer (run from sweden) replaced the entire shortblock with a newer version at ZERO expense for me...

mainly because i was able to produce a religious servicebook with only having one danish (and 2 vists to a german subaru workshop) having worked on the car...

Hello. I'm from Russia, Siberia, Krasnoyarsk.
My auto Subaru Outback deisel 2008.
Vin JF1BPDLYE8G104505.
I'm new forum member with old problems - crankshaft disaster.
My situation described in russian subaru forum - 24subaru.ru - .

Crankshaft broken at the same place at speed about 60-70 km/h.
Odometer stops at 116000 km.
It is real disaster to me cause the spare parts problem and its high price.

How U solve crank problem? What short-block install instead of broken?
I find in catalog that my short-block is 10103-AC200 but the only supplier, who can sell me Subaru diesels parts has 10103-AC210 one. Can in be replaced?

Do you know exactly the number of weak crankshaft? May be 12200AA380 or 12200AA381?

I want to send letter to FHI but do not know the email address. Who knows?

Hey Yasik,

Sincere condolences to your motorcrash :icon_frown:

Do you unterstand any German or know someone who is able to translate german to russia ?

If yes, here is a very good technical Subaru Forum for the Diesel, with nearly everything in, what you are looking for

You need to sign-up to be able to read the diesel related threats, but this one will give you some more infos

There are nearly everything replaced of the early Boxer-Diesel engine.

If you are looking in SubaruFAST, for the MY2008 there is no replacement short block listened, so take a look at the EURO4 Forester or Impreza .

Latest Impreza Crankshaft is 12200AA480. This Crank is also used in the EURO5 engines untill starting with GEN3 engine.
12200AA380 should be the weak one and was replaced with 12200AA381 witch was also replaced with 12200AA480 at the last mounth of EURO4 engine build in April of 2010.

If you need a new short block 11010AB074 is the lastes one, but very simular to 11010AB073

Weak one was 11010AB071, stronger 11010AB72 of the first 2 quaters of MY2010 but after all also replaced with the 11010AB073.

11010AB074 is now used up to the chance to GEN3. engine.

So IMO 11010AB073 shortblock with 12200AA480 crankshaft should be the lates and strongest (?) version of a EURO4 Boxer-Diesel engine

I know about 11010AB074 block and 1013AC200 short-block for my auto.

Spare parts to diesel Subaru is disaster in Russia. Usually suppliers buy spare parts in Emirat, but now there are no spare parts for ee20z in Emirat :(.
Short-block 1013AC200 costs about 5700-5800 euro and 30-45 days to me. It is very expensive to me. Can U tell me the price of 1013AC200 in Europe?

My supplier only can buy 1013AC130 for me. It is only one available.
Do U know the difference 1013AC210 from 1013AC200?

1013AC200 - Applied model: (TDE+TD).20Z
1013AC210 - Applied model: (TDEI+TDEK+TDI+TDK).20Z

surely you could build the EuroV stuff onto an earlier engine or bottom end? That's assuming that it wouldn't just plug-n-play in.

I see a bare E4 and a complete E5 engine on ebay UK currently, I'm sure there are more than that throughout Europe.

prices of Diesel spare parts in europa are a mess too:

no lists exsiting, for every part you need to call Subaru dealer and prices difference form call to call.

I heart of short block prices from 3600€ till 5600€ without any work on.

I think cheapest way for a new short block or a compleate engine is Boxeer - Subaru Diesel Engines in USA.

EURO5 engine will not work in your car:

injectors / turbo / DPF / glow plug system / ECU difference.
You also will get a closed DPF system..

CAN-Bus difference, so you need to chance nearly everthing.

EURO5 is secound generation of Boxer-Diesel.

You should search for a late (2. half) 2010 EURO4 Impreza engine.
This will be the best one.
Forester of this age were EURO5 with all this differences.

Ouuuu!!! Thanx for USA link. I sent mail to them. Now waiting for the answer. Did you or smb else had any purchases from Boxeer - Subaru Diesel Engines ? It is not a cheat?

Why U think that euro5 COMPLETE engine with its ECU will not work in my car? I speak about complete motor!!!

all Foresters and Imprezas are closed DPF, no?

Yes they are, only the Legacy / Outback of MY2008/09 are open DPF without any sensor monitory.

But all importend parts are the same. Even the pinning of the ECU..
So you can forget about the DPF, if you use the Legacy ECU.

Only some e-mail contact and some indirect contact in Subaru Diesel Crew surface, sorry

EURO5 got a differend ECU (SH7059 instate of SH7058S).
CAN-bus values differeneces form EURO4 to EURO5, so a EURO5 ECU will not communicated with EURO4 power steering, ABS/VDC, BCU .

Only chance to have a EURO 5 engine in your car, is to remap your EURO4 ECU to all EURO5 chances (injector / turbo / etc.)

IMO,be glade not to have a close DPF and do not chance this !

Sarah, of course I'm looking for 2010 euro5 engine with ECU. My engine has no any sensor at exhaust pipe and my ECU don't understand them. I sent a letter to Boxeer - Subaru Diesel Engines and have a hope for a answer. If they have short-block in stock, I will buy it! To buy complete engine for 5000usd plus customs duties plus road cost is impossible task for my purse :(.
