I ordered Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 225/55R17 for my 2009 Forester Premium through Costco. At the time of installation the mechanic said that I had to sign a waiver saying that I understood that I am installing a tire that is not speed rated for my vehicle. I may encounter premature wear. I didn't expect this considering all the positive reviews for Blizzak's on this forum.

Has anyone else encountered this?

How often do you go over 118 mph? :N_poke:
What are stock tire ratings? I'm guessing you went from a U or maybe a V to a T;

T 118 mph 190 km/h Family Sedans & Vans
U 124 mph 200 km/h
H 130 mph 210 km/h Sport Sedans & Coupes
V 149 mph 240 km/h Sport Sedans, Coupes & Sports Cars

Not a big deal in the winter.

ps, Costco also makes you sign a waiver if you change tire size (if you can convince them to mount them at all!)
they are covering their beehinds- that's it.

I went to a Costco in Los Angeles county.. The Alhambra Costco, and they would not even sell me tires that didn't have the same speed rating as the OEM Bridgestones.. I think they were 99H. They would not put anything less than an H rated tire on the car.

So I bought a second set of wheels, take-offs from an Outback, and I take them there and tell them the wheels are for an old Subaru I have on cider-blocks at home.......and have them put the tires I want on them.
2010 Outback comes with 99S tires on 16 inch steel wheels, the 2010 Forester Comes with 99H tires on 16 inch steel wheels.... and the cars are pretty much the same weight, figure that out.

I guess you only drive an Outback 118 MPH, but you drive the Forester 130 MPH.....
