I drove home today in a new sage green 2010 X. I traded in a 5 year old SUV (the first and last GM vehicle I will ever buy but that's another story). I actually put down a deposit yesterday afternoon with the intention of picking it up on Saturday (a day I picked arbitrarily after I realized that I was really going to buy it and got nervous). But then, last night, I could not sleep. I wanted that car so so bad. It's a 5 speed manual transmission (in my book the only way to drive - the aforementioned GM beast was also my first and last automatic transmission, but that's just a preference thing I guess). Anyway, I researched small SUVs for weeks, mostly because I wanted to make sure that I picked the car with the best side impact safety ratings - I have a 6 year old boy and 4 year old girl who sit awfully close to those sides. I was very biased toward the Forester just because I liked the way it looked, so I was tickled when I realized it was also the safest by far. I zoomed home (didn't even stall it once!) and beeped for the family to come outside (they didn't know I was picking it up today). We went for a fun ride and both kids liked it (my 4 year old daughter pronounced it Best Car Ever). I am postively giddy. The only bad thing is I don't have an excuse to drive it more tonight, and even if I did, the young deer have been racing around after nightfall more than usual (spring training for deer I guess) so I'm nervous that I'll squish one and muss up my pretty green Forester. Sorry if I'm babbling - I have no idea how much folks "share" here, but I can't seem to stop myself. I shall sleep well tonight, dreaming of zooming around in sage green...So great to be here! I can't wait to read about/meet all of you!
Cheers,
JWC
